Elk River falls to Blaine in overtime, 4-3 (OT)Elk River Barn Thu, Jan 10, 2013 The Blaine Bengals' Tyler Cline scored 4:22 into overtime to beat the Elk River Elks, 4-3 (OT). Blaine came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Bengals trailed 3-1 after a goal by Elk River's Andrew Zerban at 7:30 in the second period. Blaine knotted things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Joey Lau at 7:51 in the third period. The Bengals were paced by Cline, who had one goal and one assist. Blaine managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Bengals ended up below its season average of 9.0 penalty minutes per game. By firing 30 shots on goal, Blaine exceeded the 2.3 shots it averages per game this year. Blaine also got points from Lau, who also had one goal and one assist. Jesse Norling also scored for Blaine. In addition, Blaine received assists from Brandon Noterman, Alex Copa, and Tyler Frischmmon, who each chipped in one. The Elks put 19 shots on net during the contest, more than the 5.7 they average per game. Elk River was helped by Chase Springman, who registered one goal. Springman scored 2:04 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Elk River. Austin Larson assisted on the tally. Elk River also got a goal from Jack Geissler as well. Other players who recorded assists for Elk River were Wyatt Edge, Blake Hillman, Reggie Lutz, and Grant Bunker, who contributed one a piece. Bailey Ketola made 16 saves for the Bengals on 19 shots. Blaine registered one goal on three power play opportunities. MacLean Berglove rejected 26 shots on goal for the Elks. Elk River totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play.
