Huge game by Toscano boosts Duluth East over Blaine, 5-1Fogerty Arena - South Rink Thu, Jan 03, 2013 The Duluth East Greyhounds' Alex Toscano had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 5-1 win over the Blaine Bengals. Toscano's tallies came at 2:54 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Duluth East and 10:42 into the second to make the score 3-1 Duluth East.Duluth East's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Blaine power plays. The Greyhounds' offense was clicking better than usual and put 36 shots on goal during the game, better than the 4.8 shots per game they average. Duluth East also got points from Ryan Lundgren, who also had one goal and one assist. Meirs Moore also scored for Duluth East. Other players who recorded assists for Duluth East were Joey Marinac, who had one and Jack Forbort, who had three. Blaine struggled to put together a cohesive attack and finished with a mere 14 shots over the course of the game. Still, the total topped the Bengals' average of 3.0 per game this year. Blaine was held below its usual level of production. The Bengals average 3.7 goals per game. Blaine was led by Dallas Gerads, who scored the team's only goal. Gerads scored 1:20 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Blaine. Dylan Parker made 13 saves for Duluth East on 14 shots. The Greyhounds incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
