Maple Grove downs Osseo, 8-0Maple Grove Premier Thu, Jan 03, 2013 Chris Freemark racked up two points to lead the Maple Grove Crimson to an 8-0 victory over the Osseo Orioles. Maple Grove's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Osseo power plays. The Crimson outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Maple Grove averages 3.0 goals per contest. The Crimson got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Maple Grove's offense was clicking better than usual and put 39 shots on goal during the game, better than the 5.1 shots per game it averages. Maple Grove additionally got points from Parker Dean, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Nate Erickson, who also finished with one goal and two assists, and Jake Abernathy, who also registered one goal and two assists. Maple Grove also got a goal from Charlie Thomsen as well. Other players who recorded assists for Maple Grove were Josh Augustine, who had one, Josh Passolt, who had two, and Joe Franta, who had four. Osseo's offense was handcuffed by the Crimson's defensive play, and the Orioles managed only nine shots on goal during the game. Penalties took their toll on Osseo, as its penalty kill unit let in three power play goals. Calvin McKenney recorded nine saves for Maple Grove. The Crimson ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. Connor Dahlberg made 31 saves for the Orioles on 39 shots. Osseo incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
