Andover beats Coon Rapids 4-2 after comeback scareCoon Rapids High School Thu, Dec 20, 2012 The Coon Rapids Cardinals tried to dig themselves out of a four-goal hole, but the Andover Huskies held on for a 4-2 victory. A goal by Brady Barthold put Andover up 4-0 in the second period, but Coon Rapids pulled to within two on Jake Bruner's tally 3:21 into the third period. The Huskies' offense was clicking better than usual and put 48 shots on goal during the game, better than the 7.1 shots per game they average. Andover was helped by Tyler Tomberlin, who finished with one goal and one assist. Tomberlin scored 13:07 into the first period to make the score 3-0 Andover. Nick Maney picked up the assist. Andover also got a goal from Tyler Vold as well. More assists for Andover came via Zach Sitarz, who had one and John Chorzempa and Byron Gunderson, who contributed two a piece. The Cardinals found themselves stymied offensively, and got off a mere 10 shots against the Huskies' defense. Cody Ancheta also scored for Coon Rapids. In addition, Coon Rapids received assists from Seth Johnson, who had one and Samuel Naegele, who had two. Chase Perry rejected eight shots on goal for Andover. The Huskies ended with no penalties and went 1-for-0 on the power play. Zachary St. John recorded 44 saves for Coon Rapids. The Cardinals finished the contest with no penalties and went 2-for-0 with the man advantage.
