Maple Grove outlasts Champlin Park, 4-2Champlin Ice Forum Sat, Dec 15, 2012 The Maple Grove Crimson and the Champlin Park Rebels were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Maple Grove made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2. The Crimson gained the winning advantage on a goal by Joe Norenberg 7:45 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. Maple Grove's penalty kill excelled, as the Crimson gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays. Maple Grove was led by Norenberg, who registered one goal and one assist. The 58 shots that the Crimson put on net surpassed Maple Grove's average of 4.0 shots per game this season. Maple Grove also got points from Josh Passolt, who also registered one goal and one assist. Parker Dean also scored for Maple Grove. Other players who recorded assists for Maple Grove were David Brumm, who had two and Nolan Kermode, Josh Augustine, and Chris Freemark, who each chipped in one. Champlin Park's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Maple Grove power plays. The Rebels were helped by Brock Puchalski, who had one goal. Puchalski scored 13:38 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Champlin Park. Bryce Plunkett picked up the assist. Champlin Park also got a goal from Luke Dalman as well. John Danielson made 24 saves for the Crimson on 26 shots. Maple Grove ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Tyler Nelson recorded 54 saves for Champlin Park. The Rebels incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
