Andover outlasts Champlin Park, 4-2Champlin Ice Forum Thu, Dec 13, 2012 The Andover Huskies and the Champlin Park Rebels were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Andover made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Tyler Vold at 5:12 of the second period. The Huskies pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 20 penalty minutes. Andover was sparked by Jake Klockers, who tallied one goal. Klockers scored 8:07 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Andover. Derek Olsen assisted on the tally. The Huskies stifled Champlin Park's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. By firing 32 shots on goal, Andover exceeded the 2.2 shots it averages per game this year. Andover additionally got points from Tyler Tomberlin, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Andover also got a goal from Brady Barthold as well. In addition, Andover received assists from John Chorzempa, Nick Maney, Bjorn Kjelstad, Brit Brothen, Byron Gunderson, and Calvin Rak, who each chipped in one. The Rebels kept the Huskies' goalie busy throughout the game, and Chase Perry made 34 saves on 36 shots. Champlin Park found itself short handed often, totaling 17 penalty minutes and allowing four power plays. The Rebels was shut out on the power play, going scoring scoreless on nine chances with a man advantage. Champlin Park was helped by Calvin Spencer, who racked up one goal. Spencer scored 8:26 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Andover. Bryce Plunkett picked up the assist. Luke Dalman also scored for Champlin Park. More assists for Champlin Park came via Michael Borrell, Jack Gromek, and Cole Groebner, who contributed one a piece. Tyler Nelson recorded 28 saves for the Rebels.
