Blaine downs Centennial in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

The Blaine Bengals pulled out a 2-1 (OT) overtime victory over the Centennial Cougars on a clutch goal by Alex Copa.

Blaine was paced by Copa, who racked up one goal. Copa scored on the power play 1:43 into overtime to make the score 2-1 Blaine. The Bengals had gained a power play chance when Will Schwartz was whistled for interference. Joey Lau picked up the assist.

Blaine stifled Centennial's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Bengals did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Blaine puts an average of 4.7 pucks into the net per game. The Bengals forced the Cougars goalie Patrick Munson to work between the pipes, taking 57 shots.

Blaine additionally got points from Tyler Cline, who also tallied one goal and one assist.

Centennial struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 16 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays.

The Cougars were led by Andrew Bertrand, who scored the team's only goal. Bertrand scored 3:56 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Centennial. Hans Gorowsky assisted on the tally.

Bailey Ketola made 22 saves for Blaine on 23 shots. The Bengals incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Munson rejected 55 shots on goal for Centennial. The Cougars registered zero goals on five power play opportunities.
