St. Michael-Albertville squeaks by Robbinsdale Armstrong, 5-3

The game between the St. Michael-Albertville Knights and the Robbinsdale Armstrong Falcons was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end St. Michael-Albertville emerged with a 5-3 win.

The Knights gained the winning advantage on a goal by Mitchel Schneider 10:53 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Brett Marshall had two goals to lead St. Michael-Albertville to victory. Marshall's tallies came at 2:02 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Robbinsdale Armstrong and 8:59 into the third to make the score 3-3.

Robbinsdale Armstrong's power play was ineffective against the Knights' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

St. Michael-Albertville's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Robbinsdale Armstrong power plays. The Knights' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as St. Michael-Albertville finished with 14 penalty minutes.

St. Michael-Albertville also got a goal from Jon Gibbs as well. More assists for St. Michael-Albertville came via David Anderson, Mike Ryan, and Cade Gamrath, who each chipped in one.

The Knights were unable to stop the Falcons from sending pucks towards the net, and Robbinsdale Armstrong eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

The Falcons were helped by Blake Babineau, who racked up one goal. Babineau scored 1:05 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Robbinsdale Armstrong. Nick Malmgren picked up the assist. Thomas Wood also scored for Robbinsdale Armstrong. Other players who recorded assists for Robbinsdale Armstrong were Brady Johnson, who had two.

Matt Borgen recorded 33 saves for St. Michael-Albertville. The Knights registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Brendan Murphy made 22 saves for Robbinsdale Armstrong on 27 shots. The Falcons incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
