Eagan blows out Apple Valley, 9-1

The Apple Valley Eagles had trouble finding ways to stop the Eagan Wildcats, which beat Eagles, 9-1.

Eagan got the win with help from a great game by Zach Glienke, who had two goals and one assist. Glienke scored the first of his two goals at 13:54 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Eagan. Nick Smallidge picked up the assist. Glienke's next tally made the score 4-1 Eagan with 16:57 left in the second period. Zach Schultz provided the assist.

Apple Valley was unable to stop the Wildcats from sending pucks towards the net, and Eagan eventually piled up 54 shots on goal. The Wildcats found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Eagan averages 5.9 goals per game.

Eagan additionally got points from Jesse Gabrielle, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Smallidge, who also registered one goal and two assists. Nick Wolff also scored for Eagan. In addition, Eagan received assists from Max Elsenheimer, Will Peterson, Nick Gray, and Andrew Lindgren, who each chipped in one.

The Wildcats' defense shut down the Eagles' forwards for much of the game, and Apple Valley got off only 12 shots during the contest.

The Eagles were led by Dylan Kocken, who scored the team's only goal. Kocken scored 5:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Apple Valley. Kevin Falteisek picked up the assist.

Andrew Lindgren rejected 11 shots on goal for Eagan. The Wildcats incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors and had no power play opportunities. Apple Valley's Mac Wartick stopped 45 shots out of the 54 that he faced. The Eagles avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored zero goals off of two power plays.
