Rosemount erases deficit to stun Apple Valley, 5-4Rosemount CC Tue, Feb 12, 2013 Undaunted by a two-goal deficit, the Rosemount Irish battled back to claim a 5-4 victory over the Apple Valley Eagles. Rosemount never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Irish trailed 4-2 after a power play goal by Apple Valley's Calvin Leong at 15:59 in the second period. Rosemount knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Evan Weiand at 10:18 in the third period. The Irish got the game winner at 14:51 in the third period on a goal by Weiand. Rosemount was led by Lukas Gillett, who grabbed three goals. Tyler Frank also scored for Rosemount. In addition, Rosemount received assists from Justin Crowell, who had two and Ryan Foley, Luke Meade, Andrew Dawson, and Spike Burkard, who each chipped in one. The Irish were unable to stop the Eagles from sending pucks towards the net, and Apple Valley eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. The Eagles bested their season scoring average. This season, Apple Valley averages 1.8 goal per contest. The Eagles were helped by Tim Toavs, who finished with one goal. Toavs scored 2:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Apple Valley. Apple Valley additionally got points from Leong, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Apple Valley also got a goal from Logan Kohorst as well. Other players who recorded assists for Apple Valley were Brandon Smith, who had two and Jacob Smith and Mason Preston, who contributed one a piece. Tom Fraune recorded 27 saves for Rosemount. The Irish incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors and had no power play opportunities. Mac Wartick made 21 saves for Apple Valley on 26 shots. The Eagles finished the contest with no penalties and went 2-for-2 with the man advantage.
