Schultz, Willox dominate Lakeville North, lead Eagan to 8-2 win

Behind two goals and one assist from Zach Schultz and two goals and two assists from Cullen Willox, the Eagan Wildcats downed the Lakeville North Panthers 8-2.

Schultz scored the first of his two goals at 16:22 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Eagan. Zach Glienke picked up the assist. Schultz's next tally made the score 7-2 Eagan with 7:49 left in the second period. Willox provided the assist. Willox scored the first of his two goals at 7:20 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Eagan. Glienke picked up the assist. Willox's next tally made the score 6-2 Eagan with 9:52 left in the second period. Will Peterson provided the assist.

Eagan's offense rang up 46 shots on Lakeville North's net. The Wildcats' goal total was higher than their season average. Eagan averages 5.7 goals per game. The Wildcats were ineffective while on the power play, as they were held to one goal off of 11 man advantages.

Eagan also got points from Willox, who also had two goals and two assists to lead the team in points. Eagan also had goals scored by Jack Jenson, who had two and Max Elsenheimer and Josh Loew, who scored one goal each. In addition, Eagan received assists from Tommy Muck, Jonathan Estes, and Nick Smallidge, who contributed one a piece and Nick Wolff, Kyle Stebbing, and Jesse Gabrielle, who each chipped in two.

The Panthers were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 26 penalty minutes.

Lakeville North was led by Connor Hyden, who registered two goals. Hyden scored the first of his two goals at 3:06 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lakeville North. Erik Rutt picked up the assist. Hyden's next tally made the score 3-2 Eagan with 19:47 left in the second period. Jack McNeely assisted on the tally. More assists for Lakeville North came via Nick Poehling and Sam Petrick, who contributed one a piece.

Eagan's Andrew Lindgren stopped 15 shots out of the 17 that he faced. The Wildcats incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Will Dupont made 38 saves for the Panthers on 46 shots. Lakeville North registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
