Lakeville North uses big second period to beat Lakeville South, 7-2

The Lakeville South Cougars allowed the Lakeville North Panthers to net four goals during the second period and fell, 7-2.

Lakeville North was paced by Tristan Hazlett, who tallied one goal and one assist. Hazlett scored 1:58 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Lakeville North. Jared Inserra picked up the assist.

Lakeville South was unable to stop the Panthers from sending pucks towards the net, and Lakeville North eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. The Panthers surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Lakeville North averages 2.8 goals per game.

Lakeville North also got points from Connor Hyden, who also had one goal and one assist and Inserra, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Lakeville North included Jack Poehling, who had two and Jack Diercks and Sam Petrick, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Lakeville North were Matt Ostdiek, Nick Poehling, Matthew Arnold, and Jack McNeely, who contributed one a piece.

The Cougars' offense was clicking better than usual and put 25 shots on goal during the game, better than the 1.0 shot per game they average.

Lakeville South was helped by Nick Swaney, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Swaney scored 10:43 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Lakeville North. Nick Oelrich assisted on the tally. Lakeville South additionally got points from Oelrich, who also finished with one goal and one assist. More assists for Lakeville South came via Leo Steinmetz and Cameron Jackson, who each chipped in one.

Will Dupont made 23 saves for the Panthers on 25 shots. Lakeville North incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Cougars' Tyler Schumacher stopped 26 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Lakeville South incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
