Eastview hangs on, beats Apple Valley 5-3

The Eastview Lightning took the lead against the Apple Valley Eagles in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 5-3 victory.

Eastview took over the lead for good with a goal by Cole Cooper at 14:04 in the first period. John Snodgrass assisted on the tally.

Ryan McNamara was all over the ice for the Lightning, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. McNamara scored the first of his two goals short handed at 16:28 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Eastview. Eastview played down a man on Pierce Erickson's elbowing. Nick Abbott picked up the assist. McNamara's next tally short handed made the score 5-3 Eastview with 3:31 left in the third period.

The Lightning forced Apple Valley goalie Mac Wartick to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Eastview also got points from Jake McGlocklin, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Eastview also got a goal from Mike Stillings as well. More assists for Eastview came via Mitchell Cerrato and Mitch Beattie, who each chipped in one.

The Eagles were led by Mason Preston, who tallied two goals and one assist. Preston scored the first of his two goals at 3:57 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Eastview. Dylan Reynolds assisted on the tally. Preston's next tally made the score 3-2 Eastview with 17:48 left in the third period. Reynolds picked up the assist. Logan Kohorst also scored for Apple Valley. Other players who recorded assists for Apple Valley were Christian Smith and Brandon Smith, who contributed one a piece.

Zachary Driscoll made 12 saves for Eastview on 15 shots. The Lightning incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Wartick recorded 28 saves for Apple Valley. The Eagles incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
