Huge game by Forbort boosts Duluth East over Apple Valley, 10-1Duluth Heritage Sports Arena Thu, Jan 17, 2013 Behind a great game by Jack Forbort, who had one goal and four assists, the Duluth East Greyhounds defeated the Apple Valley Eagles, 10-1. Forbort scored 7:03 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Duluth East. Alex Toscano picked up the assist. Forbort dished an assist on Toscano's goal that made the score 1-0 Duluth East at 4:53 into the first period. He then added assists on Alex Trapp's goal at 7:20 into the second, on Phil Beaulieu's goal at 10:39 into the second, and on Ryan Lundgren's goal at 16:00 into the second.Duluth East bested its season scoring average. This season, the Greyhounds average 4.5 goals per contest. The defensemen of Duluth East were also effective in Apple Valley's zone, and came away with three goals. The Greyhounds put 48 shots on net during the contest, more than the 6.1 they average per game. Duluth East also got points from Wyatt Irwin, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Lundgren, who also registered one goal and one assist, Toscano, who also grabbed three goals and three assists to lead the team in points, Beaulieu, who also racked up one goal and two assists, and Justin Smith, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Duluth East came via Tyler Sworsky, Nick Altman, and Beau Hughes, who contributed one a piece. The Eagles' offense were handcuffed by Duluth East's defensive play, and Apple Valley managed only 10 shots on goal during the game. The Eagles were led by Jacob Smith, who scored the team's only goal. Smith scored 32 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-1. Christian Smith assisted on the tally. The Greyhounds' Casen Sjerven stopped nine shots out of the 10 that he faced. Duluth East incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Shane Van Dusartz rejected 38 shots on goal for Apple Valley. The Eagles finished the contest with no penalties and went 0-for-2 with the man advantage.
