Burnsville boosted by Mallon's play in net, beats Bloomington Jefferson 4-1

Chris Mallon stood on his head and made 33 saves to lead the Burnsville Blaze to a 4-1 victory over the Bloomington Jefferson Jaguars.

Burnsville was paced by Ian Taylor, who grabbed one goal. Taylor scored 6:35 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Burnsville. Brock Boesser picked up the assist.

The Blaze excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The 26 shots that Burnsville put on net surpassed the Blaze's average of 1.5 shot per game this season.

Burnsville additionally got points from Boesser, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Tyler Sheehy, who also registered two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Burnsville received assists from Mason Schneider and Cole Borchardt, who each chipped in one.

Bloomington Jefferson stifled Burnsville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Jaguars were held below their usual level of production. Bloomington Jefferson averages 4.4 goals per game. The Jaguars' offense rang up 34 shots on the Blaze's net.

Bloomington Jefferson was led by Zac Beek, who scored the team's only goal. Beek scored short handed 5:15 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The Jaguars were on a disadvantage when Jack Graves went off the ice for hooking. Matt Waldron assisted on the tally.

Burnsville totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play. Bloomington Jefferson's Grant Martens stopped 22 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Jaguars incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
