Bloomington Jefferson beats Apple Valley 9-1 as Hernon gets hat trick

A hat trick by Collin Hernon was the highlight in Jaguars' 9-1 win against the Apple Valley Eagles.

Hernon's first goal came 1:20 into the second period. He then added goals at 2:32 into the second and at 3:51 into the second.

The Bloomington Jefferson Jaguars stifled Apple Valley's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Bloomington Jefferson's offense rang up 47 shots on the Eagles' net. The Jaguars found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Bloomington Jefferson averages 4.7 goals per game.

Bloomington Jefferson additionally got points from Charlie Bach, who also finished with one goal and three assists and Tyler Johnson, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Bloomington Jefferson also got a goal from AJ Robbel as well. Other players who recorded assists for Bloomington Jefferson were Charlie Straus, Jono Lindquist, and Jack Graves, who contributed one a piece and Jack Weiss and Zac Beek, who each chipped in two.

Apple Valley forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and two majors for 36 minutes in penalty time. The Eagles surpassed its season average of 13.0 penalty minutes per game.

Apple Valley was led by Brandon Smith, who scored the team's only goal. Smith scored 3:14 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Apple Valley. Jacob Smith assisted on the tally.

The Jaguars' Grant Martens stopped 19 shots out of the 20 that he faced. Bloomington Jefferson incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Shane Van Dusartz made 38 saves for the Eagles on 47 shots. Apple Valley registered zero goals on four power play opportunities.
