Chaska squeaks by Bloomington Kennedy, 5-3

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Chaska Hawks escaped with a 5-3 victory over the Bloomington Kennedy Eagles.

Chaska gained the winning advantage on a goal by Eric Maki 7:30 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

With three goals and one assist between them, Maki and Derek Annett teamed up to power the Hawks' offense. Maki tallied two goals and Annett also added one goal and one assist.

Bloomington Kennedy was unable to stop Chaska from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hawks eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Chaska additionally got points from Annett, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Carter Schmidt, who also had one goal and one assist, and Brooks Wineberg, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Chaska were Mitch Kirchoff, Shane Doan, and Garrett Paulzine, who each chipped in one.

The Eagles were helped by Brad Hinrichs, who finished with two goals. Hinrichs scored the first of his two goals at 10:44 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Michael McCullen assisted on the tally. Hinrichs' next tally made the score 4-3 Chaska with 8:10 left in the third period. Bloomington Kennedy had taken the advantage when Chaska's Wineberg got sent off for holding. Jacob OKeefe provided the assist. Bloomington Kennedy also got points from OKeefe, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Bloomington Kennedy came via Mitchell Radcliff, who had one and Conor Jensen, who had two.

Blake Jackson recorded 27 saves for the Hawks. Chaska incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Eagles' David Johnson stopped 28 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Bloomington Kennedy incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
