Hastings beats White Bear Lake 3-2 after comeback scare

The White Bear Lake Bears tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Hastings Raiders would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2.

A goal by Matt Koch put Hastings up 3-1 in the second period, but White Bear Lake pulled to within one on Seth King's tally 15:52 into the third period.

The Raiders were sparked by Koch, who had one goal and one assist. Koch scored on the power play 2:48 into the second period to make the score Hastings. Hastings had gotten the advantage when the Bears' Jake Dittel was sent off for boarding. Jake Caneff provided the assist.

Mark Huneke also scored for Hastings. More assists for Hastings came via Zach Mellick and Andrew Bussey, who contributed one a piece.

The 18 shots that White Bear Lake put on net surpassed the Bears' average of 3.2 shots per game this season.

White Bear Lake was helped by Jake Wahlin, who finished with one goal. Wahlin scored 8:59 into the first period to make the score 1-1. King picked up the assist. White Bear Lake also got points from King, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, White Bear Lake received assists from Thomas Delaney, who had two.

The Raiders' Matt Radke stopped 16 shots out of the 18 that he faced. Hastings incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Chase Gorman rejected 13 shots on goal for the Bears. White Bear Lake totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
