Bocchi leads White Bear Lake over Stillwater, 6-1Vadnas Heights Sports Complex Tue, Jan 22, 2013 Alex Bocchi had two goals and one assist to lead the White Bear Lake Bears to a 6-1 victory over the Stillwater Ponies. Bocchi scored on the power play at 13:15 into the first period to make the score 2-0 White Bear Lake and again while 15:33 into the first to make the score 3-0 White Bear Lake.White Bear Lake pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 14 penalty minutes. The 19 shots that the Bears put on net surpassed White Bear Lake's average of 3.3 shots per game this season. The Bears bested their season scoring average. White Bear Lake averages 3.8 goals per game. The Bears took advantage of Stillwater's penalties, tallying three goals off of three power play opportunities. White Bear Lake additionally got points from Thomas Delaney, who also tallied two goals and one assist and Jake Wahlin, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Wyatt Newpower also scored for White Bear Lake. More assists for White Bear Lake came via Ben Wilke, who had two and A.J. Welch and Tommy Giller, who each chipped in one. The Ponies could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Stillwater puts an average of 3.1 pucks into the net per game. The Ponies put 22 shots on net during the contest, more than the 1.4 they average per game. Stillwater's normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. The Ponies are averaging 2.5 goals against for the season. Chase Gorman rejected 21 shots on goal for White Bear Lake. Colton Anderson took the loss and made nine saves before being replaced by Pat Courteau who made four saves. Stillwater incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
