Buckingham's big game bests Stillwater in 3-1 Cretin-Derham Hall win

Jack Buckingham had two goals and one assist to lead the Cretin-Derham Hall Raiders to a 3-1 victory over the Stillwater Ponies.

Buckingham scored at 14:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cretin-Derham Hall and again while on the power play 8:15 into the third to make the score 3-1 Cretin-Derham Hall.

Cretin-Derham Hall stifled Stillwater's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Cretin-Derham Hall also got points from Joe Dekker, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Cretin-Derham Hall were Nick Reis, Bret Huebner, Cole Gnetz, and Patrick Cullen, who contributed one a piece.

The Ponies did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Stillwater averages 3.2 goals per game.

The Ponies were led by Tyler Fitzsimmons, who scored the team's only goal. Fitzsimmons scored 11:34 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Brandon Jungman picked up the assist.

The Raiders' Trent Jancze stopped 24 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Cretin-Derham Hall incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Pat Courteau made 17 saves for Stillwater on 20 shots. The Ponies totaled 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors and two majors and went 0-for-4 on the power play.
