Woodbury downs Mounds View, 2-1

Hayden Shaw racked up one point to lead the Woodbury Royals to a 2-1 victory over the Mounds View Mustangs.

Woodbury managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Royals finished below its season average of 8.0 penalty minutes per game.

Woodbury also got points from Ryan Winter, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Woodbury were Mark Dornfeld, who had one and Geno Demke, who had two.

Mounds View's offense operated below it season average. The Mustangs put an average of 4.4 pucks into the net per game. Mounds View put 23 shots on net during the contest, more than the 0.3 it averages per game.

The Mustangs were led by AJ Rupert, who scored the team's only goal. Rupert scored 30 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mounds View. Austin Teske assisted on the tally.

Connor Kwiatkowski rejected 22 shots on goal for Woodbury. The Royals registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Brandon Smith recorded 23 saves for Mounds View. The Mustangs totaled seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play.
