Hastings falls to Roseville in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

The Roseville Raiders' Ross Stecklein scored 7:39 into overtime to beat the Hastings Raiders, 6-5 (OT).

Roseville nearly gave up a three-score lead. The Raiders made it 5-2 on a goal by Colton Brauesen at 13:26 in the second period. Hastings got to within 5-4 on a goal by Mark Huneke at 15:19 in the third period.

Roseville's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Hastings power plays. The Raiders found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Roseville averages 3.9 goals per game.

Roseville also got points from Ryan Larson, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Robb Stautz also scored for Roseville. In addition, Roseville received assists from Alex Brauesen, who had two and Cory Martinez, Andrerw Colvard, and Justin Dorr, who each chipped in one.

The Raiders excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Hastings forced the Raiders goalie Quinn Huff to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Hastings additionally got points from Matt Koch, who also racked up one goal and two assists and Andrew Bussey, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Hastings also got a goal from Bailey Siewart as well. More assists for Hastings came via Matt Flynn, who had two and Zach Mellick and Jake Caneff, who contributed one a piece.

Huff rejected 30 shots on goal for Roseville. The Raiders incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Tyler Woyke made 23 saves for the Raiders on 29 shots. Hastings incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
