Rogala leads Forest Lake over Woodbury, 7-2

Behind a great game by Cody Rogala, who had two goals and two assists, the Forest Lake Rangers defeated the Woodbury Royals, 7-2.

Rogala scored at 15:02 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Forest Lake and again while 16:38 into the second to make the score 4-2 Forest Lake.

Forest Lake managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Rangers ended up below its season average of 7.0 penalty minutes per game. Forest Lake kept Woodbury's goalie busy throughout the game, and Connor Kwiatkowski made 35 saves on 42 shots. The Rangers' goal total was higher than their season average. Forest Lake has scored at the pace of 4.7 goals per game during the current campaign.

Forest Lake also had goals scored by Alex Egle, who had two and Weston Kilpela, Taylor Marx, and Paul Stehr, who scored one goal each. In addition, Forest Lake received assists from John Suess, who had two, Brett Gravelle, who had three, and Trevor Thompson, Ryan Herbert, Kyle Parker, and Jack Schmidt, who contributed one a piece.

The Royals stifled the Rangers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Woodbury was led by Sasha Choporov, who racked up one goal and one assist. Choporov scored zero seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Woodbury. Sam Gazzola provided the assist. Woodbury also got a goal from Evan Roepke as well. Other players who recorded assists for Woodbury were Hayden Shaw, who had one.

Jesse Garcia made 16 saves for Forest Lake on 18 shots. The Rangers registered zero goals on four power play opportunities. The Royals incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
