Cretin-Derham Hall falls to White Bear Lake in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The White Bear Lake Bears pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Cretin-Derham Hall Raiders on a clutch goal by Sam Anderson.

Cretin-Derham Hall could not complete its climb out of a two-goal hole. White Bear Lake made it 4-2 on a goal by Jake Wahlin at 9:34 in the third period. The Raiders got to within 4-3 on a goal by Jim Buckingham at 13:18 in the third period.

The Bears got the win thanks to a great game by A.J. Welch, who had one goal and two assists. Welch scored 11:45 into the second period to make the score 3-1 White Bear Lake. Wyatt Newpower assisted on the tally.

White Bear Lake's offense was clicking better than usual and put 26 shots on goal during the game, better than the 1.4 shot per game it averages.

White Bear Lake additionally got points from Tyler Steffen, who also had one goal and one assist and Jake Dittel, who also tallied one goal and two assists. In addition, White Bear Lake received assists from Ben Wilke, Seth King, Tommy Giller, and Alex Bocchi, who contributed one a piece.

The Bears were unable to stop Cretin-Derham Hall from sending pucks towards the net, and the Raiders eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

Cretin-Derham Hall was led by Patrick Cullen, who registered one goal and one assist. Cullen scored on the power play 9:18 into the third period to make the score 3-2 White Bear Lake. The Raiders earned a power play opportunity when Thomas Delaney was put in the box for too many men. Kendall Bolen-Porter provided the assist. Cretin-Derham Hall also got points from Bret Huebner, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Buckingham, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Max Jackson also scored for Cretin-Derham Hall. Other players who recorded assists for Cretin-Derham Hall were Derek Olmschenk, who had two.

Max Green made 32 saves for White Bear Lake on 36 shots. The Bears incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Alex Bailey rejected 21 shots on goal for Cretin-Derham Hall. The Raiders incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
