The White Bear Lake Bears and the Mounds View Mustangs skate to 5-5 (OT) tie

Even though White Bear Lake's Jake Wahlin netted three goals and Tommy Giller ccontributed one point, the Bears was held to a tie by Mounds View, 5-5 (OT).

White Bear Lake's offense was clicking better than usual and put 28 shots on goal during the game, better than the 3.4 shots per game it averages.

White Bear Lake also got points from Peter Wachtler, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for White Bear Lake were A.J. Welch, who had two and Thomas Delaney, Tyler Steffen, Seth King, and Wyatt Newpower, who contributed one a piece.

By firing 25 shots on goal, the Mustangs exceeded the 0.5 shots they average per game this year.

Mounds View was led by Ryan Elvidge, who tallied one goal and one assist. Elvidge scored 4:19 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Mounds View. Jacob Tretsven assisted on the tally. Mounds View additionally got points from Tucker Gran, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Tretsven, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Matt Hunt also scored for Mounds View. More assists for Mounds View came via Andrew Bjorklund and John Sarafolean, who each chipped in one.

Michael St. Martin recorded 20 saves for the Bears. White Bear Lake totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play. The Mustangs' Brandon Smith stopped 23 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Mounds View totaled 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 1-for-4 on the power play.
