Hastings blows out White Bear Lake, 7-3

The Hastings Raiders had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-3 win over the White Bear Lake Bears.

Colin Shoen had a great game for Hastings, netting two goals. Shoen scored at 1:17 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hastings and again while 7:05 into the first to make the score 2-0 Hastings.

White Bear Lake's power play was ineffective against the Raiders' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Hastings penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 11 minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The Raiders surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. Hastings outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Raiders average 3.8 goals per contest.

Hastings also got points from Mark Huneke, who also registered one goal and one assist, Matt Koch, who also finished with one goal and two assists, and Andrew Bussey, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Hastings also got a goal from Zach Mellick as well. More assists for Hastings came via Jake Caneff, who had one and Matt Flynn, who had two.

The Bears' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as White Bear Lake finished with 28 penalty minutes.

The Bears were helped by Jake Wahlin, who had one goal and one assist. Wahlin scored 8:26 into the third period to make the score 6-2 Hastings. Ben Wilke assisted on the tally. White Bear Lake additionally got points from Wilke, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Brady Anderson also scored for White Bear Lake. In addition, White Bear Lake received assists from Caden Wippler, who had one.

Matt Radke recorded 27 saves for Hastings. The Raiders registered three goals on seven power play opportunities. White Bear Lake's Max Green stopped 12 shots out of the 19 that he faced.
