The Luverne Cardinals beat the Breckenridge/Wahpeton Blades, 2-0, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

A goal 2:44 into the the first period by Skyler Wenninger proved to be the game winner, and powered Luverne to the victory Chaz Smedsrud picked up the assist.

Wenninger had a great game for the Cardinals, netting two goals.

Luverne's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Breckenridge/Wahpeton power plays. The Cardinals were held below their usual level of production. Luverne averages 6.3 goals per game.
