Breckenridge/Wahpeton uses fast start to beat Bagley/Foston, 7-1

The Bagley/Foston Flyers fell behind early, and the Breckenridge/Wahpeton Blades kept piling on the points on the way to a 7-1 victory.

Aaron Neppl was all over the ice for Breckenridge/Wahpeton, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Neppl scored the first of his two goals at 7:09 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Breckenridge/Wahpeton. Tyler Gripentrog provided the assist. Neppl's next tally made the score 5-0 Breckenridge/Wahpeton with 11:35 left in the first period. Gripentrog assisted on the tally.

The Blades put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Bagley/Foston to score on any of its three power plays. Breckenridge/Wahpeton forced the Flyers goalie Ben Thoma to work between the pipes, taking 57 shots. The Blades' goal total was higher than their season average. Breckenridge/Wahpeton averages 2.4 goals per game.

Breckenridge/Wahpeton additionally got points from Jake Richels, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Brandon Wixo, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Clay Bassingthwaithe, who also grabbed two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Brett Pietron also scored for Breckenridge/Wahpeton. Other players who recorded assists for Breckenridge/Wahpeton were Austin Hagstrom and Chris Nordgren, who contributed one a piece.
