Winona beats Dodge County 2-1 after comeback scare

The Winona Winhawks survived a determined comeback attempt by the Dodge County Wildcats on the way to a 2-1 win.

Winona took a 2-0 lead during the third period, only to have Dodge County storm back on a Sam Robinson goal 14:21 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Winhawks were led by Isaac Larson, who finished with one goal. Larson scored 13:52 into the third period to make the score Winona. Michael Lubahn provided the assist.

Winona kept the Wildcats' goalie busy throughout the game, and Mitch Sobotta made 32 saves on 34 shots.

Winona also got a goal from Ty Mannor as well. Other players who recorded assists for Winona were Alex Rickoff, who had one.

Dodge County excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Wildcats did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Dodge County averages 3.5 goals per game.

More assists for Dodge County came via Tanner Dufault, who had one.

Andrew Yeske made 19 saves for the Winhawks on 20 shots. Winona incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Wildcats incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
