Naas lifts Benilde St. Margarets over Burnsville, 7-4

Behind a great game by Spencer Naas, who had four goals, the Benilde St. Margarets Red Knights defeated the Burnsville Blaze, 7-4.

Naas got on the scoresheet 1:03 into the second period. He then added goals at 5:34 into the second, at 14:04 into the second, and at 14:44 into the second.

Benilde St. Margarets' penalty kill was ineffective, and let in three goals to Burnsville's power play unit. With 31 shots on target during the contest, the Red Knights exceeded the 13.5 shots they average per game this year.

Benilde St. Margarets additionally got points from Alec Baer, who also finished with one goal and two assists and Grant Besse, who also registered one goal and one assist. Chris Hickok also scored for Benilde St. Margarets. Other players who recorded assists for Benilde St. Margarets were Johnny Austin, who had two, Ben Newhouse, who had three, and Zack Hale and Nate Labosky, who each chipped in one.

The Blaze put 23 shots on net during the contest, more than the 6.7 they average per game.

Burnsville was helped by Ian Taylor, who grabbed two goals. Taylor scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 8:50 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Burnsville. The Blaze earned a power play opportunity when Labosky was put in the box for holding. Teemu Kivihalme assisted on the tally. Taylor's next tally on the power play made the score 7-4 Benilde St. Margarets with 6:50 left in the third period. Burnsville had gotten the advantage when Benilde St. Margarets' Newhouse was sent off for cross checking. Kivihalme picked up the assist. Burnsville also got a goal from Brock Boesser as well. More assists for Burnsville came via Tyler Sheehy, who had three.

Andrew Sprang rejected 19 shots on goal for the Red Knights. Benilde St. Margarets incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Blaze's Chris Mallon stopped 24 shots out of the 31 that he faced. Burnsville incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
