Pine City/Rush City rolls over Moose Lake Area, 10-0Pine City High School Fri, Feb 01, 2013 The Pine City/Rush City Dragons had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 10-0 win over the Moose Lake Area Rebels. Pine City/Rush City got the win with help from a great game by Jake Kleinsasser, who had one goal and two assists. Kleinsasser scored 9:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pine City/Rush City. TJ Gross provided the assist. The Dragons excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Moose Lake Area was unable to stop Pine City/Rush City from sending pucks towards the net, and the Dragons eventually piled up 40 shots on goal. Pine City/Rush City found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Dragons have scored at the pace of 3.4 goals per game during the current campaign. Pine City/Rush City was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 24 penalty minutes. Pine City/Rush City also got points from Conner Werner, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Adam Swanson, who also finished with two goals and one assist, and Casey Lucht, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Others who scored for Pine City/Rush City included Chris Maki, who had one and Dewy Carr, who had three. In addition, Pine City/Rush City received assists from Colton Brant, who had two and Jed Johnson and Zach Smith, who each chipped in one. The Rebels put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Dragons to score on any of their five power plays. Moose Lake Area's offense was handcuffed by Pine City/Rush City's defensive play, and the Rebels managed only 14 shots on goal during the game. The Dragons' Tony Pitzen stopped 14 shots out of the 14 that he faced. Pine City/Rush City ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Gross was ejected from the game. Gage Mohelsky made 30 saves for Moose Lake Area on 40 shots. The Rebels incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
