WSFLG uses fast start to beat Pine City/Rush City, 13-3Grantsburg Arena Thu, Jan 10, 2013 The WSFLG Blizzard jumped out to a five-point advantage by the end of the first period and beat the Pine City/Rush City Dragons, 13-3. WSFLG got the win on the strength of a great game by Jake Langevin, who had five goals and two assists. Langevin notched his first tally 12:18 into the first period. He then added goals at 14:55 into the first, at 4:33 into the second, at 11:35 into the second, and at 6:16 into the third. The Blizzard's offense rang up 41 shots on Pine City/Rush City's net. WSFLG surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Blizzard average 9.7 goals per game. WSFLG also got points from Aaron Dietmeier, who also tallied two goals and one assist, Matt Larson, who also racked up two goals and one assist, and Alex Hopkins, who also had one goal and two assists. WSFLG also had goals scored by Jake Swenson, who had one and Shay Johnson, who had two. More assists for WSFLG came via Brandon Ryan, who had three, Dakota Linke and Austin Thoreen, who contributed one a piece, and Ryan Curtis and Bryce Ryan, who each chipped in two. The Dragons were helped by TJ Gross, who registered two goals. Gross scored the first of his two goals at 7:19 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Adam Swanson picked up the assist. Gross' next tally made the score 6-2 WSFLG with 18:37 left in the second period. Swanson provided the assist. Pine City/Rush City additionally got points from Swanson, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. In addition, Pine City/Rush City received assists from Dewy Carr, Casey Lucht, and Jake Kleinsasser, who contributed one a piece. WSFLG's Brandon Roufs stopped 25 shots out of the 28 that he faced. The Blizzard incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Tony Pitzen made 28 saves for Pine City/Rush City on 41 shots. The Dragons incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
