WSFLG rips North Branch, 9-0Grantsburg Arena Thu, Feb 07, 2013 The North Branch Vikings had trouble finding ways to stop the WSFLG Blizzard, which beat Vikings, 9-0. Lucas Willis was all over the ice for WSFLG, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Willis scored the first of his two goals at 8:00 into the first period to make the score 2-0 WSFLG. Matt Larson picked up the assist. Willis' next tally made the score 6-0 WSFLG with 10:16 left in the second period. Ryan Curtis provided the assist. The Blizzard managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. WSFLG wound up below its season average of 7.0 penalty minutes per game. The Blizzard featured an improved defense during the game. WSFLG allows 2.4 goals per game. The Blizzard's offense rang up 50 shots on North Branch's net. WSFLG also got points from Brandon Ryan, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Curtis, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Jake Langevin, who also registered one goal and two assists, and Jake Swenson, who also had one goal and one assist. Alex Hopkins also scored for WSFLG. Other players who recorded assists for WSFLG were Dakota Linke, who had two and Brett Richinson and Austin Thoreen, who contributed one a piece. The Vikings could not produce up to they normal offensive output. North Branch puts an average of 2.6 pucks into the net per game. WSFLG's defense shut down the Vikings' forwards for much of the game, and North Branch got off only 14 shots during the contest. The Blizzard's Brandon Roufs stopped 14 shots out of the 14 that he faced. WSFLG registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Cedric Geldon rejected 41 shots on goal for the Vikings. North Branch incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
