Hacker nets hat trick, leads Minneapolis to 12-2 win over Pine City/Rush City

The Pine City/Rush City Dragons could not stop the Minneapolis Novas' Peter Hacker, who tallied a hat trick in a 12-2 win.

Hacker's first goal came 10:25 into the first period. He then added goals at 12:45 into the first and at 9:53 into the second.

Minneapolis scored early and often, and held a 5-0 advantage after the first 20 minutes of play.

The Novas' offense rang up 46 shots on Pine City/Rush City's net. Minneapolis surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Novas average 6.3 goals per game.

Minneapolis also got points from Tony Pnewski, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Cris Grassel, who also had one goal and two assists, Robert Adams, who also registered one goal and one assist, Josh Huisken, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Stellan Christensen, who also registered two goals and one assist, and Josh Martin, who also had one goal and one assist. Ross Nesbit also scored for Minneapolis. Other players who recorded assists for Minneapolis were Jimmy Roth, who had two, Henry Christman, who had six, and Evan Winter, Kyle Helmstetter, and Bobby Shogren, who each chipped in one.

Erik Toftner recorded 16 saves for Minneapolis. The Novas ended with no penalties and went 3-for-0 on the power play. The Dragons' Tony Pitzen stopped 34 shots out of the 46 that he faced. Pine City/Rush City finished the contest with no penalties and went 0-for-0 with the man advantage.
