Early goals doom Becker-Big Lake, falls to Princeton, 10-0

The Princeton Tigers jumped out to a five-point advantage by the end of the first period and beat the Becker-Big Lake Eagles, 10-0.

Cam Paulson had one goal and two assists to lead Princeton. Paulson scored 1:08 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Princeton. Collin Buness assisted on the tally.

The Tigers' defensive effort looked to be improved. Princeton allows 2.2 goals per game. The Tigers forced Becker-Big Lake goalie Ethan Huber to work between the pipes, taking 64 shots. Princeton found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Tigers average 6.2 goals per contest. Princeton's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Princeton additionally got points from Jake Green, who also grabbed two goals and one assist, Buness, who also had one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, and Jordan Forschen, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Princeton included Dan Muench, who had three and Tyler Leverty and Ryan Bolduc, who each put in one. In addition, Princeton received assists from Joey Stenslie, who had one and Daniel Voce, Justin Carlson, and A.J. Wesloh, who each chipped in two.

The Eagles managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Becker-Big Lake finished below its season average of 11.0 penalty minutes per game. The Eagles could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Becker-Big Lake averages 3.9 goals per game. The Eagles did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting nine shots on net to force nine saves.

Robert Zimmer recorded nine saves for the Tigers. Princeton incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Ethan Huber made 54 saves for Becker-Big Lake on 64 shots. The Eagles registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
