Achiever NE Academy beats Becker-Big Lake 7-3 as Sprague gets hat trick

Cory Sprague lifted the Achiever NE Academy Aces to a 7-3 victory with a hat trick against the Becker-Big Lake Eagles.

Sprague got on the scoresheet 8:00 into the first period. He then added goals at 16:30 into the first and at 4:47 into the third.

Achiever NE Academy pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 14 penalty minutes.

The Aces excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Achiever NE Academy's offense rang up 31 shots on Becker-Big Lake's net. The Aces' goal total was higher than their season average. Achiever NE Academy has scored at the pace of 4.6 goals per game during the current campaign.

Achiever NE Academy additionally got points from Ryan Finnegan, who also finished with one goal and two assists and Baron Thompson, who also registered one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Victor Morgan also scored for Achiever NE Academy. More assists for Achiever NE Academy came via Brennan McGuire, Donovan Meyer, and Garrett Martin, who each chipped in one.

The Eagles could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game. The defensemen of Becker-Big Lake were also effective in the Aces' zone, and came away with two goals.

The Eagles were led by Jason Tonneslan, who tallied two goals. Tonneslan scored the first of his two goals at 2:20 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Becker-Big Lake. Tonneslan's next tally made the score 4-2 Achiever NE Academy with 19:07 left in the third period. Becker-Big Lake also got a goal from John Messman as well. In addition, Becker-Big Lake received assists from Zach Muller, who had one.

Cameron Madrid recorded 19 saves for Achiever NE Academy. The Aces registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Becker-Big Lake's Ethan Huber stopped 24 shots out of the 31 that he faced.
