GAME RECAP

Windom Area downs Marshall in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

Windom    Thu, Nov 29, 2012

The Windom Area Eagles' Travis Janssen scored 26 seconds into overtime to beat the Marshall Tigers, 5-4 (OT).

Although Windom Area was up by as many as two goals in the third period, Marshall kept the game interesting by staging a comeback that ultimately fell short. The Tigers got to within 4-3 on a power play goal by Quinn Horvath at 9:43 in the third period.

Janssen had a great game for the Eagles, netting four goals. Janssen notched his first tally 8:13 into the first period. He then added goals at 42 seconds into the second.

Windom Area's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Eagles finished with 16 penalty minutes.

Windom Area also got a goal from Devin Neilsen as well. In addition, Windom Area received assists from Zach Bartosh, who had two and Stuart Schumacher, Mitchell Macek, Ryan Clark, and Andrew Hirsch, who contributed one a piece.

Marshall's offense rang up 47 shots on Windom Area's net. The Tigers' defense was uncharacteristically lax during the game. Marshall gives up 2.5 goals per game.

Ben Stubbe rejected 43 shots on goal for the Eagles. Windom Area registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Masion Campion made 19 saves for the Tigers on 24 shots. Marshall totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 3-for-7 on the power play.
