Janssen nets hat trick, leads Windom Area to 11-1 win over FairmontWindom Fri, Dec 21, 2012 A hat trick by Travis Janssen was the highlight in Eagles' 11-1 win against the Fairmont Cardinals. Janssen got on the scoresheet 14 seconds into the first period. He then added goals at 6:24 into the first and at 15:34 into the second.The Windom Area Eagles led 6-1 after the opening frame the first period and maintained a healthy margin after. Windom Area managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Eagles ended up below its season average of 10.0 penalty minutes per game. Windom Area kept Fairmont's goalie busy throughout the game, and Colton Cunning made 36 saves on 47 shots. The Eagles surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Windom Area averages 6.3 goals per game. Windom Area also got points from Stuart Schumacher, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Devin Neilsen, who also finished with two goals and three assists, Zach Bartosh, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Zach Steen, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Ryan Evers also scored for Windom Area. Other players who recorded assists for Windom Area were Dylan Pigman, who had one and Mitchell Macek, who had two. Tyler McGowan recorded 23 saves for the Eagles. Windom Area registered one goal on six power play opportunities. The Cardinals totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and had no power play opportunities.
