Windom Area outlasts Waseca, 4-3Waseca Thu, Jan 31, 2013 The Windom Area Eagles and the Waseca Bluejays were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Windom Area made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-3. The Eagles gained the winning advantage on a goal by Travis Janssen 16:59 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer. Windom Area was led by Janssen, who registered one goal and one assist. The Eagles kept Waseca's goalie busy throughout the game, and Austin Stroda made 47 saves on 51 shots. Windom Area also got points from Zach Bartosh, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Devin Neilsen also scored for Windom Area. More assists for Windom Area came via Dylan Pigman, who had one. The Bluejays stifled Windom Area's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Waseca found itself short handed often, totaling 14 penalty minutes and allowing six power plays. The Bluejays were helped by Josh Metzdorff, who grabbed one goal. Metzdorff scored on the power play 1:42 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Waseca had gotten the advantage when the Eagles' Tyler Presthus was sent off for interference. Michael Priebe provided the assist. Waseca also got a goal from JP Eykyn as well. In addition, Waseca received assists from Cody Ulfers, who had two. Windom Area's Ben Stubbe stopped 27 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Eagles incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Bluejays registered one goal on one power play opportunities.
