McNamee's hat trick boosts St. Paul Como Park over Waseca, 6-1

Mitch McNamee lifted the St. Paul Como Park Cougars to a 6-1 victory with a hat trick against the Waseca Bluejays.

McNamee's first goal came 6:05 into the first period. He then added goals at 5:59 into the second and at 3:28 into the third.

St. Paul Como Park was led by goalie Ernie Mantel, who finished with 31 saves while allowing one goal. Mantel managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.19 prior to the game.

The Cougars' offense rang up 36 shots on Waseca's net.

Others who scored for St. Paul Como Park included Erik Wagner, who had one and Tor Will, who had two. More assists for St. Paul Como Park came via Toom McCullough, who had two and Peter Gaertner, Anders Sateren, Matt Klein, and Max Inskeep, who each chipped in one.

St. Paul Como Park was unable to stop the Bluejays from sending pucks towards the net, and Waseca eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

The Bluejays were led by Brett Whitehurst, who scored the team's only goal. Whitehurst scored on the power play 6:35 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Jesse Ungs provided the assist.

The Cougars totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-5 on the power play. Waseca's Austin Stroda stopped 30 shots out of the 36 that he faced. The Bluejays totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play.
