Wadena-Deer Creek beats Red Lake Falls 2-1 after comeback scareWadena Community Center Sat, Feb 09, 2013 The Red Lake Falls Eagles tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 2-1. Wadena-Deer Creek made the score 2-0 on a goal by Christian Berg at 4:53 in the second period, and Red Lake Falls got as close as 2-1 when Ryan Amiot scored 6:10 into the third period. The Wolverines were paced by Berg, who registered one goal. Wadena-Deer Creek stifled the Eagles' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Wolverines' offense operated below they season average. Wadena-Deer Creek puts an average of 4.8 pucks into the net per game. Mitchell Swanson also scored for Wadena-Deer Creek. Other players who recorded assists for Wadena-Deer Creek were Mike Paavola and Shane Motschenbacher, who contributed one a piece.
