Moe's hat trick boosts Northern Lakes over Wadena-Deer Creek, 7-2

Ben Moe netted a hat trick to lead the Northern Lakes Lightning over the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines, 7-2.

Moe got on the scoresheet 37 seconds into the first period. He then added goals at 6:54 into the first and at 59 seconds into the second.

Northern Lakes excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Lightning surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Northern Lakes has scored at the pace of 3.9 goals per game during the current campaign.

Nick Blanchette also scored for Northern Lakes. In addition, Northern Lakes received assists from Hunter Leslie, who had two, Gaven Bickford, who had three, and Kyle Narveson and Dalton Rickard, who contributed one a piece.

Wadena-Deer Creek's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Northern Lakes power plays. The Wolverines were held below their usual level of production. Wadena-Deer Creek averages 5.0 goals per game.

The Wolverines were helped by Mike Paavola, who tallied one goal. Paavola scored 15 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wadena-Deer Creek. Mike Behl assisted on the tally. Wadena-Deer Creek also got a goal from Bridger Pettit as well. More assists for Wadena-Deer Creek came via Dylan Phillips, who had one.

Mitch Stangel made 18 saves for the Lightning on 20 shots. Northern Lakes incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Cory McManigle recorded 22 saves for Wadena-Deer Creek. The Wolverines incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
