Wadena-Deer Creek falls to Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

Ethan Niemela gave the Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato Dragons a 4-3 (OT) victory over the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines when he scored 1:17 into the extra period.

Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato was paced by Niemela, who finished with one goal and one assist.

In the losing effort, Wadena-Deer Creek was led by Mitchell Swanson, who grabbed two goals and one assist. Swanson scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 4:25 into the second period to make the score 2-2. The Wolverines earned a power play opportunity when Aaron Haataja was put in the box for interference. Bridger Pettit provided the assist. Swanson's next tally on the power play made the score 3-3 with 11:42 left in the second period.

The Dragons kept Wadena-Deer Creek's goalie busy throughout the game, and Cory McManigle made 34 saves on 38 shots.

Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato also got a goal from Ryan Tormanen as well. More assists for Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato came via Troy Ryynanen, who had one.

The Wolverines' offense operated below they season average. Wadena-Deer Creek puts an average of 5.5 pucks into the net per game. The defensemen of the Wolverines were also effective in Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato's zone, and came away with two goals.

Christian Berg also scored for Wadena-Deer Creek.

Braeden Wahl recorded 26 saves for the Dragons. Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Wadena-Deer Creek incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
