Buss, Hutchinson blank Waconia, 5-0Waconia Ice Arena Thu, Dec 20, 2012 The Hutchinson Tigers used a sparkling performance by Kellyn Buss to take down the Waconia Wildcats, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Hutchinson's 5-0 shutout victory. The Tigers were led by Carter Mandelkow, who finished with one goal. Mandelkow scored 4:09 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Hutchinson. Justin Driver picked up the assist. Hutchinson put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Waconia to score on any of its three power plays. The Tigers' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Tory Adams also scored for Hutchinson. Other players who recorded assists for Hutchinson were Matt Sandeen, Shane Collings, and Cody Nielson, who contributed one a piece. The Wildcats managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Waconia finished below its season average of 6.0 penalty minutes per game. The Wildcats could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Waconia puts an average of 3.6 pucks into the net per game. Kellyn Buss made 30 saves for Hutchinson on 30 shots. The Tigers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Nathan Kovach rejected 10 shots on goal for the Wildcats.
