Tartan outlasts St. Michael-Albertville, 5-3

The Tartan Titans gutted out a close 5-3 win against the St. Michael-Albertville Knights.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Jake Jackson's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Jackson was all over the ice for Tartan, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Jackson scored 8:54 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Tartan. Zach Ledman provided the assist.

The Titans forced St. Michael-Albertville goalie Matt Borgen to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

Tartan additionally got points from Ledman, who also registered two goals and one assist. Tartan also got a goal from Mike Winberg as well. More assists for Tartan came via Kevin Reddy, Zach Moore, Eric Olheiser, Brady OSullivan, and Michael Friberg, who each chipped in one.

The Knights stifled Tartan's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

St. Michael-Albertville was helped by Jon Gibbs, who finished with one goal. Gibbs scored 9:21 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Matt Kisch assisted on the tally. St. Michael-Albertville also got points from Tanner Starr, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Mike Ryan, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for St. Michael-Albertville were Zac Borgen and Matt Coquyt, who contributed one a piece.

Gabe Splichal rejected 24 shots on goal for the Titans. Tartan incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Knights' Borgen stopped 36 shots out of the 41 that he faced. St. Michael-Albertville incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
