Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter beats Waseca 8-1 as Wenner gets hat trick

Sam Wenner netted a hat trick to lead the Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter Bulldogs over the Waseca Bluejays, 8-1.

Wenner's first goal came 11:07 into the first period. He then added goals at 15:28 into the first and at 8:57 into the third.

Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter kept Waseca's goalie busy throughout the game, and Austin Stroda made 51 saves on 59 shots. The Bulldogs surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter averages 3.5 goals per contest. The Bulldogs took advantage of the Bluejays' penalties, tallying three goals off of three power play opportunities. Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter also got points from Austin Braun, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter also got a goal from Ryan Moriarty as well. Other players who recorded assists for Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter were Luke Regner, who had four and Ryan Hoehn and Brett Zallek, who each chipped in one.

Waseca found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere 12 shots against the Bulldogs' defense.

JP Eykyn also scored for Waseca. In addition, Waseca received assists from Wyatt Krampitz and Cody Ulfers, who contributed one a piece.

Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter's Chris Amsden stopped 11 shots out of the 12 that he faced. The Bulldogs incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Bluejays totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play.
