St. Cloud Tech rides Althaus to victory over Willmar, 2-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Austin Althaus helped the St. Cloud Tech Tigers defeat the Willmar Cardinals, 2-1.

St. Cloud Tech was led by Justin Oberg, who registered one goal. Oberg scored 2:44 into the third period to make the score 2-1 St. Cloud Tech. Riley Bates provided the assist.

St. Cloud Tech also got a goal from Alex Keller as well. In addition, St. Cloud Tech received assists from Matt Brettingen, Davis Reinholz, and Tanner Skaja, who each chipped in one.

Willmar did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Cardinals put an average of 3.5 pucks into the net per game. The Tigers were unable to stop Willmar from sending pucks towards the net, and the Cardinals eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Willmar was led by Zech Streed, who scored the team's only goal. Streed scored 4:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Willmar. Hunter Schneider assisted on the tally.

Austin Althaus made 32 saves for St. Cloud Tech on 33 shots. The Tigers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Joe Benson recorded 23 saves for the Cardinals. Willmar incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
