Sartell-St.Stephen beats St. Cloud Tech 2-1 after comeback scare

The St. Cloud Tech Tigers tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Sartell-St.Stephen Sabres would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 2-1.

A goal by Spencer Zwiener put Sartell-St.Stephen up 2-0 in the second period, but St. Cloud Tech pulled to within one on Jake Peterson's tally 16:19 into the third period.

The Sabres were led by goalie Elliott Brookins, who finished with 27 saves while allowing one goal. Brookins managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.52 prior to the game.

The Tigers were unable to stop Sartell-St.Stephen from sending pucks towards the net, and the Sabres eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

Sartell-St.Stephen also got a goal from Isaac Linstrom as well. More assists for Sartell-St.Stephen came via Matthew Ringhand and Tyler Minkel, who contributed one a piece.

St. Cloud Tech stifled Sartell-St.Stephen's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Tigers could not produce up to they normal offensive output. St. Cloud Tech averages 3.8 goals per game.

In addition, St. Cloud Tech received assists from Riley Bates and Tanner Skaja, who each chipped in one.

The Sabres totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-5 on the power play. The Tigers' Austin Althaus stopped 35 shots out of the 37 that he faced. St. Cloud Tech totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play.
