Skaja leads St. Cloud Tech over Alexandria, 8-1National Hockey Center Thu, Feb 14, 2013 The St. Cloud Tech Tigers' Tanner Skaja had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing four assists in his team's 8-1 win over the Alexandria Cardinals. Skaja beat Ben Allen with a shot 2:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Cloud Tech. Braden Altena picked up the assist. Skaja dished an assist on Davis Reinholz's goal that made the score 2-1 St. Cloud Tech at 3:05 into the second period. He then added assists on Reinholz's goal at 3:05 into the second, on Jake Peterson's goal at 10:53 into the second, and on Peterson's goal at 10:53 into the second.Alexandria's four penalties came back to haunt it, as the Cardinals let up four goals while on the penalty kill. St. Cloud Tech's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Alexandria power plays. The Tigers forced Alexandria goalie Allen to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. St. Cloud Tech's goal total was higher than its season average. The Tigers average 3.6 goals per game. St. Cloud Tech additionally got points from Justin Oberg, who also racked up one goal and one assist. St. Cloud Tech also got a goal from Joe Setrum as well. In addition, St. Cloud Tech received assists from Riley Bates and Matt Brettingen, who each chipped in two. The Cardinals were led by Tom Schmidt, who scored the team's only goal. Schmidt scored 3:37 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Matt Resch assisted on the tally. St. Cloud Tech's Riley Miller stopped 18 shots out of the 19 that he faced. The Tigers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Allen recorded 27 saves for Alexandria. The Cardinals ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. For Alexandria, Patrick Leary was ejected from the game.
