St. Cloud Cathedral beats Sartell-St.Stephen 8-2 as Hammer gets hat trickSt. Cloud MAC Tue, Nov 27, 2012 The Sartell-St.Stephen Sabres could not stop the St. Cloud Cathedral Crusaders' William Hammer, who tallied a hat trick in an 8-2 win. Hammer got on the scoresheet 10:53 into the first period. He then added goals at 5:11 into the second and at 10:12 into the second.Sartell-St.Stephen trailed by one after the first period, but St. Cloud Cathedral went into the second intermission with a 5-1 lead and never looked back. The Crusaders kept the Sabres' goalie busy throughout the game, and Elliott Brookins made 45 saves on 53 shots. St. Cloud Cathedral bested its season scoring average. The Crusaders have scored at the pace of 3.7 goals per game during the current campaign. St. Cloud Cathedral's penalty kill was ineffective, and let in two goals to Sartell-St.Stephen's power play unit. The defensemen of the Crusaders were also effective in the Sabres' zone, and came away with four goals. St. Cloud Cathedral additionally got points from Austin Poganski, who also grabbed one goal and three assists and Mitchell Fritz, who also registered three goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Daniel Bailey also scored for St. Cloud Cathedral. Other players who recorded assists for St. Cloud Cathedral were Austin Swingle, who had three and Peter Spethmann, Peter Thibault, and Matt Fritz, who each chipped in one. Sartell-St.Stephen was led by Kyle Erickson, who grabbed one goal. Erickson scored on the power play 8:28 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Sartell-St.Stephen. The Sabres had taken the advantage when St. Cloud Cathedral's Tommy Hall got sent off for checking from behind. Andrew Lindmeier provided the assist. Sartell-St.Stephen also got a goal from Tyler Minkel as well. More assists for Sartell-St.Stephen came via Isaac Linstrom, Matt Worzala, and Matthew Ringhand, who contributed one a piece. The Crusaders' Connor Amundson stopped 17 shots out of the 19 that he faced. St. Cloud Cathedral totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play. Sartell-St.Stephen ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major.
